Pro Am this Weekend!

The Australian wakeboard industry have rallied together after the announcement that the Australian Pro Tour of Wakeboarding (APTW) would not be run for this coming summer season. The WWA Australian Pro Am is set to fill the void made by the loss of Pro Tour and will keep the 2010 season alive and kicking for our Aussie wakeboarders.

The WWA Australian Pro-Am is shaping up to be one of the biggest events this country has ever seen and has had a massive wave of support from every corner of the industry already. Some of Australia's most dedicated wakeboard industry sponsors have gone above and beyond to make this the best event on the 2010 calendar. Riders and their families have provided unexpected and much appreciated support, and for the first time in a long time, all of the industry’s boat companies are planning on converging in the one location to display what a great thing it is to be a part of the Australian Wakeboard Industry. The WWAA will contribute over $10,000 in prize money to the event and Red Bull Australia have lodged their support in a bid to save the Australian wakeboarding season for 2010, and guarantee a future for us all to head towards.

Stoney Park in Port Macquarie is the stage that has been set for the WWA Australian Pro-Am, and at the end of January when the water and weather are both at point perfect, the country’s first ever WWA World Championships Qualifying Event will hold all divisions from junior boys and girls aged under 9, all the way up to the PRO men and women. This event will be the only Australian event that will allow our riders to qualify for the 2010 WWA World Championships.

The WWA Australian Pro-Am will be a festival long weekend aimed at celebrating the best of the best on the water and also aimed at celebrating the personality of, and personalities within the Australian wakeboard industry. There will be freestyle motocross sessions, live music, boat displays, autograph sessions with some of the world’s most acclaimed wakeboard athletes and the opportunity to get up close and personal with all of the above. Both WAKE mag and Boarder Magazine have committed their intentions to cover the event and will be on site all weekend shooting pics and with awesome giveaways. We are proud to have WAKE mag on board for 2010 with their absence being duely noted at the Australian Pro Tour in the past 3 years.
